I stopped by the Okefenokee RC field in Waycross today on my way back from Baxley.
Their field is located in the middle of an industrial park next to the Waycross airport, and open to all AMA members. The have a grass runway smaller than at Cecil, with a metal canopy and half a dozen tables. I was a little nervous flying, but the site turned out to be larger than it looked, and since the runway was facing directly into the wind, I had no trouble taking off or landing. I guess I am used to all of the wide open space around Cecil.
Two of the club members showed up while I was there to test fly a homebuilt plane made out of a corroplast Pepsi sign, powered by an .51 OS motor. It was like a sturdy bird with plastic corrugated winds and tail feathers. The plane flew very well.
